The recent move of demonetizing 500 and 1000 rupee notes has led to people queuing up outside banks and ATMs to either exchange or withdraw cash.

However, shortage of cash has resulted in increased lines and longer waiting time. Catering to this problem is Pune’s personal finance management startup Walnut. Introduced on Monday night, the new feature in their application that allows users to find a functional ATM with cash and shorter queues.

Based on the ATM usage of its two million users, the feature displays a colour-coded map of ATMs with cash and shorter queue denoted by a green pin, ATMs with cash and a long queue denoted by a red pin and the ones with no cash/unknown activity denoted by a grey pin. Furthermore, every time a user visits an ATM successfully, the app prompts them to enter details of the queue status to provide an update.
