Online marketplace Snapdeal has removed the cap on Cash on Delivery orders implemented last week. Cash on Delivery service was restricted to orders valued less than Rs 2000 in view of the demonetisation of high value currency notes.

Rival marketplace Flipkart had restricted CoD orders for a period of 48 hours after the demonetisation move was announced while Amazon India was back to servicing CoD orders from November 11.

According to industry numbers, close to 60% of the e-commerce orders are paid through the CoD channel and the recent move to demonetise notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 denomination had hit the order volumes for the online marketplaces, accentuating 0the slump after the sale season during Diwali.
